Phonetic Sentences

Samples of sentences written completely in phonetics.  Once you learn to read phonetics you will see that this is more accurate than reading written English!

Here is an example of a sentence written phonetically:

/ðə/ /ˈresɪpi / /fɔ:r/ /ðə/ /ˈtʃɪkɪn/ /ɪz/ /ɪn/ /ðə/ /ˈkɪtʃɪn/

Can you read it?  Don’t worry if you can’t because once you learn how to read phonetic symbols in our book “Phonetics for Learners of English Pronunciation” you will be able to do this easily!

You will see words written phonetically  in any good English dictionary.  Before you buy a dictionary, open it to make sure it contains phonetic symbols after the English word you are searching for.

Phonetic symbols show you how to pronounce English and where to place any stress in English words.
